The database can be used to find information and photographs.
For a Basic Search
Enter what it is you want to search for then click on the the Search button.
In this example the word ‘chapel’ was searched for and 20 items were found. The word ‘chapel’ will have been found in any of the columns and the full record is displayed.
• ‘cha’ will find ‘chapel’, ‘charles’ etc
• ‘chapel st’ will find ‘chapel street’ but not just ‘chapel’ or just ‘street’
• ‘cha OR st’ will find ‘chapel’, ‘exchange’ or ‘street’, ‘Chesterton’ etc
By selecting the ‘Photos’ category the results have been filtered. The word ‘chapel’ will have been found in any of the columns in the Photos category and the full record is displayed. This has reduced the number of matches to 13 items.
By just selecting ‘Title’ in ‘Where to Search’ the word ‘chapel’ is only searched for in the Title column of the Photos category and has found 7 items.
Adding a ‘From’ date in ‘Which Year’ further filters the results from 1950 to the current year. Now only 1 match has been found.
Clicking anywhere on the found item will display a thumbnail of the photograph or document if it has been digitised.
